Liam Debono beaten up in Luqa

Liam Debono, the 17-year-old youth accused of the attempted murder of PC Simon Schembri was beaten up by a group of aggressors, MaltaToday has been told.

The incident happened on Friday with sources telling MaltaToday that Debono was beaten up by four men who visited him at his place of work at the Luqa industrial estate.

The incident happened at roughly 2pm.

When contacted, the police said that a young man had been beaten up, but would not confirm the victim's identity.

The police said that the victim had filed a report at the Luqa police station, before seeking treatment at a health centre.

He was later admitted to Mater Dei Hospital's emergency department for further treatment. The extent of his injuries is as yet unknown.
