Executed American serial killer linked to more murders

Already found guilty of 34 murders, detectives are investigating the possibility that John Wayne Gacy could have been responsible for more murders.

Sky News reports that the investigation into the crimes of John Wayne Gacy – responsible of 34 killings between 1972 and 1978 – can now put names to victims who were never identified.

Gacy’s victims had all been young men and boys, most of the buried in the cellar at his home. He would often pose as a police officer to attract his victims. The serial killer was convicted in 1980 and executed in 1994.

DNA technology will be used to match the DNA of eight bodies which were never identify with relatives of young men who went missing in the area during the ‘70s.

Speaking to USA Today, Former detective Joseph Kozenczak – who helped catch Gacy – said he believes there are more victims: “There is not question about it in my mind.”

Gacy became known as the Killer Clown because of his charitable services at fundraising events, parades and children's parties where he would dress as "Pogo the Clown," a character he devised himself.
