National Tennis 10s Event at the Marsa Sports Club
Malta, May 2013, the annual Tennis 10s Festival was held at the Marsa Sports Club on May 19th 2013 as kids from different tennis schools across the country came together for a fun packed tennis festival.
The tournament was organized according to the new tennis formats adopted by the ITF for Tens and under Tennis.
In such a format kids play with smaller sized rackets, softer balls and smaller courts in the Orange Festival, and softer balls in the Green Festival.
The day came to an end with a nail biting final in the Green Festival as Alex de Gabriele edged Ben Azzopardi in a thrilling tie-break in front of a sizeable crowd of enthusiasts.
The winner for orange is Kurt Cassar who defeated Alexander Spiteri. The coordinator of the Tennis 10’s programme, Claire Arrigo was very pleased with the event, the level of play and above all the joy of watching kids play tennis in a fun environment.
‘The Malta Tennis 10s is happy with outcome of the Festival and encourages all Tennis Clubs in Malta to continue supporting this initiative.
“It is really nice to see such level of enthusiasm from all those involved, the coaches, the parents and most importantly the kids themselves.
We have also been entertained with a relatively high level of tennis all throughout the day,” said Claire Arrigo.
