Maltese tennis sensation Francesca Curmi makes it to the doubles semi-final

Francesca Curmi and her French partner have reached the girls doubles semi-finals at the Australian Open Juniors

Francesca Curmi and French partner Loudmilla Bencheick came back from a set down to beat Thailand’s Thasaporn Naklo and Mananchaya Sawangkaew.

Curmi and Bencheick won 7-6 4-6 10-7 to reach the girls doubles semi-finals at the Australian Open Juniors on Wednesday.

It was a sweet victory for the Maltese-French duo in a match that lasted an hour and 24 minutes against the tournament’s second seeds.

In the semi-final, they will face Adriann Nagy, of Hungary, and Japan’s Natsumi Nawaguchi.

The other Maltese tennis player Helene Pellicano, and her Spanish partner Marta Custic failed to progress after losing to Americans Chloe Beck and Emma Navarro 3-6 6-2 10-6.
