A 65 year-old man from Birkirkara has been shot dead, with his body being found behind a parked Ford Mondeo in Hal Far.
The incident is said to have happened earlier this afternoon in the vicinity of Ghar Hasan.
According to initial reports, the man, identified as Ronald Galea owner of Continental Meat Co Ltd, was shot a number of times.
Police Inspector Keith Arnaud from the Homicide Squad is currently on the scene of the crime together with a number of investigators and scene of crime forensic experts.
While a Magisterial inquiry has been launched, members of Galea's family are also on site.
