Cousins Kenneth and Malcolm Brincat investigated for drug trafficking

Two cousins have been released on bail after they were charged in court with drug possession and trafficking this morning.

In separate arraignments before Magistrate Gabriella Vella, Inspector Herman Mula charged Kenneth Brincat, 27 from Attard and Malcolm Brincat, 22, from Birkirkara with possession and trafficking of cannabis grass, cannabis resin, ecstasy, psilocybine and cocaine.

 The inspector told the court that police had arrested them yesterday acting on a tip off the drugs were found at Kenneth Brincat’s house and car, as well in a jointly owned garage.

In quantities which indicated that they were not for their personal use. It is understood that the younger cousin was a junior partner in the enterprise, acting for the most part as a runner.

Both men pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Malcolm Brincat was granted bail against a deposit of €5000 and a personal guarantee of €10,000, while Kenneth Brincat was bailed against a deposit of €8000 and a personal guarantee of €12,000.

Lawyer Franco Debono appeared on behalf of Kenneth Brincat, while lawyer Gianluca Caruana Curran represented Malcolm Brincat.
