Suspected cannabis resin recovered from Zonqor

A suspicious package was recovered from the cliffs in Zonqor. The package was recovered by the police and investigations are underway. It is believed that the package contains 12 blocks of suspected cannabis resin.

The police’s communications office had no information on the case but photos shared by the state media showed officers on site.

Curiously, this is the second time this week that a package containing drugs was found near the sea.

A plastic bag filled with cannabis was retrieved from the sea on Monday after divers in Gozo alerted the police to the suspicious package. The container which was inside a black plastic bag contained about 20kg of what is suspected to be cannabis resin.

It is understood that the police are analysing both packages for fingerprints. At this stage, the police are not excluding that the cases may be connected.
