A 37-year-old Briton living in Malta was today treated for smoke inhalation after a blaze engulfed an apartment block in Marsaskala.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were called in to control the blaze at an apartment block in Triq Nigel Dennis at about 1:00am. The police said that neighbours raised the alarm after smoke was seen coming out of the apartment’s windows.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire broke out in the man’s kitchen.

CPD officials brought the fire under control within minutes, while an ambulance conveyed the man to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was treated for smoke inhalation.

No injuries were suffered.
