A woman was conditionally discharged today after being caught selling diuretic pills as ecstasy at the Lost & Found party which took place over the weekend.

Emanuela Garofalo, 25 from Naples, was arraigned in court today in front of presideing magistrate Grazio Mercieca, charged with practicing the medical care profession without fulfilling all the necessary conditions, fraudulently posing as a pharmacist, carrying out commercial transactions of medical products without a license and placing a medicinal product on the local market without proper authorisation.

Since Garofalo was caught selling legal drugs in an illegal way, she could not be charged with drug trafficking.

The court found the accused guilty of all charges, except that of fraudulently posing as a pharmacist, which was dropped.

Magistrate Mercieca, presiding over the case, handed the accused a conditional discharge of three years, and a fine of €2,329 which is to be paid €100 each month.

Legal Aid Benjamin Valenzia represented the accused.

Inspector Malcolm Bondin prosecuted.
