A 16-year-old boy has been handed a three-year probationary sentence and a treatment order after he admitted to the charge of grievously injuring his mother when he punched her on Saturday.

Magistrate Anthony Vella explained the serious nature of the case to the teenager, insisting that his behaviour should not be repeated.

Simon Micallef Stafrace was the boy’s legal aid while police inspector Kylie Borg prosecuted.
