The woman reported missing last Friday was imprisoned in a cave in Kalkara on Monday night by her husband, in what has turned out to be a horrific case of abduction.

Natalie Williams, 46, was discovered in a deep rock crevice underground around the Rinella area, after husband Roddie Williams admitted to her disappearance when police intervened in an argument between Williams and relatives in Triq is-Salvatur, Kalkara at 8pm.

Williams had been missing for three days when she was found inside the cave, cold, dazed, as well as exposed to vermin inside the complex of underground rooms near the old Kalkara fortifications.

Nathalie Williams’ daughter Danika Vella said her brother had spotted Roddie Williams, a Seychelles national, and pinned him to the ground so that he does not escape. It is then when police intervened.

Roddie Williams was arrested in connection with her disappearance and Nathalie Williams was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police said the underground room was accessible through a door at the end of a tunnel, and then opened into a smaller room.

Police are looking at the case as a possible case of attempted murder. The magisterial inquiry is being led by Joseph Mifsud.
