Two arrested in separate police drug raids

Both were caught carrying quantities suggesting it was not for their personal use

A man and a woman have been arrested and are expected to be charged in court over the next 48 hours after they were found carrying quantities of drugs indicating they were not for their personal use.

In a statement on Saturday the police said that its Drugs Squad had arrested a man and a woman in two separate operations.

The woman, 43 from Valletta, was arrested in Ħamrun after being caught in possession of a substance believed to be cocaine, as well as cannabis buds.

A 29-year-old man from Xagħra, Gozo was arrested in Mġarr, Gozo after being caught with cocaine that was ready to be trafficked.

The police said that investigations were still ongoing.
