Sunday newspaper Illum reveals how part-time teachers - paid by the Ministry of Education - have not yet received their wage for the month of October.

The teachers work 20 hours per week with an hourly rate of €11.65. This means each worker has to receive €1,800 for the hours worked during October and November.

apparently even those teaching life skills have not been paid! these teachers are 'employed' by the directorate of life long learning and have to pay sky high social security rates as they have been made to register themselves as self- employed (which apparently is becoming a new trend). How are these teachers supposed to pay their quarterly social security if they have not yet received a pay since they started!! The perfect Christmas present!

The ministry of education was always quick at coming up with new directives and fancy documents but when it comes to the practical side of things they are the first ones to lag behind. As usual the bureaucrats play the part of the lions but never manage to get it right.
