The international bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey is outselling The Da Vinci Code in Malta.

The Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy is an international phenomenon topping the bestseller charts all over the world.

The erotic novel by British author E. L. James is set largely in Seattle and traces the deepening relationship between a college graduate, Anastasia Steele, and a young business magnate, Christian Grey. The book is notable for its explicitly erotic scenes.

The book has sold over 31 million copies in 37 different countries. It is being considered as one of the best selling books of all time and Malta is no exception.

Local distributors Miller told Sunday newspaper Illum that the E.L. James novel has created a bigger hype than the The Da Vinci Code.

Michael Vella de Fremaux from Miller Distributors said the book has sold in thousands on the same levels if not better then the Dan Brown novel.
