Beware of the Attard speed camera: 5,192 tickets issued in 10 months

Average of 519 over speeding fines caught on camera thanks to the speed camera at Triq in-Nutar Zarb in Attard.

In just 10 months, 5,192 speeding tickets were issued to drivers who were caught exceeding the 50km speed limit at Triq in-Nutar Zarb in Attard. On average, this speed camera issues 519 tickets every month.

According to information tabled in parliament by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, a total of 19,896 over speeding tickets were issued in 10 months, caught on camera by the 17 speed cameras situated in nine localities.

The information also shows that drivers forget - or are unaware of - the two speed cameras situated in Mdina Road, Qormi. In fact, a total of 2,741 fines were issued in this locality, followed by Birkirkara (2,633).

The statistics for the other speed cameras were: Gudja (2,264),St Julian's (1,096), St Paul's Bay (553), Santa Venera (2,306), Haz-Zebbug (893) and Zejtun (2,218).
