Greens call for publishing of Gozo tunnel and bridge studies

Prime Minister says either a tunnel or a bridge connecting Gozo to Malta has to be made.

Alternattiva Demokratika has called on the government to publish any studies it had on a proposed bridge or tunnel connecting Gozo to Malta.

In an interview with MaltaToday, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said he saw a bridge or a tunnel as a must, confirming that an aerodrome would be built on the sister island.

The government was in fact looking at the possibility to develop a turf airstrip.

According to AD chairman Arnold Cassola, Muscat must at this stage have studies on a fixed link option at his disposal.

“Since the Prime Minister has made up his mind and has decided, it is obvious that he has all the feasibility, economic, environmental and social studies on the fixed link option at his disposal,” Cassola said.

“Alternattiva Demokratika is therefore asking the Prime Minister to publish all these studies immediately, so that all Maltese and Gozitans can make a reasoned judgement on the issue.”
