The Times of Malta

Reports of illegal farming practices that put consumers at risk have gone unnoticed since 2011. Farmer Paul Abela has repeatedly notified several entities – including Mepa, the police and the local council – alerting them to the illegal practice of dumping slurry in adjacent fields to increase crop yields. The sewage is collected from private cesspit cleaning services, mobile toilets and animal farms and spread in fields, creating significant risk of contaminating both the produce and the water underground.

In-Nazzjon

The PN are calling for a return of public lands gifted to Labour in the interest of levelling the playing field. PN Deputy Leader Beppe Fenech Adami spoke in reaction to a white paper proposing new party financing laws.

In international news, In-Nazzjon reports on the verdict of the Turkish Constitutional Court, which deemed Prime Minister Erdogan’s banning of Twitter unconstitutional. It also ordered every Internet ban or block to be lifted.

L-Orizzont

This newspaper claims to be in possession of Simon Busuttil’s declaration of assets, filed when he was an MEP. The document shows that he did not declare his share of the €1.2million in contracts that ERCS Ltd. was granted by successive Nationalist governments, most of which occurred through direct orders.

The Malta Independent

The Independent reports that over 1,000 people are awaiting some form of social assistance from support entities Sedqa, Sapport and Appogg. The information came in a reply to a parliamentary question about the number of employees working at each of the agencies.

Also occupying the front page is an image of pastor Gordon Manche, who yesterday presented a petition with 10,000 signatures of people against gay adoption. Manche praised outgoing President Abela for his refusal to sign the bill.
