A brawl in the early hours of yesterday almost ended in tragedy for one teenager in Paceville. His father told the newspaper how his son and some friends were surrounded and attacked by a group of foreigners carrying knives. The man's son was grievously injured and narrowly avoided having his throat slit all the way open. His friends too sustained injuries. The man called for stricter policing in the area, saying that people were wandering about armed and itching for a fight.

Denise Ellul, the pharmacist who flagged irregularities present in the Pharmacy of Your Choice scheme, has said that patients who phone up the ministry of health are asked to give their details. She said that this meant that medicines were being sent directly to patients instead of pharmacies and showed a clear advantage to those who chose to contact the ministry.

Another report on the front page says that Labour MPs have earned a collective €1 million in the government's first year, thanks to appointments to government boards and other entities, without public calls for other applicants.

Cyrus Engerer will retain a consultative role within the Ministry of Social Dialogue, said Minister Helena Dalli. Dalli said Engerer would retain his position within the ministry as he had already paid the price for his wrongdoing - sending compromising pictures of his ex-partner in an attempt to damage his reputation - by withdrawing his candidature in the MEP elections.
