Malta establishes diplomatic relations with Somalia

The Foreign Ministry has announced that Malta has established diplomatic relations with Somalia, after the documents were signed by foreign minister George Vella and Somali ambassador Ali Said Faqi, on the fringes of an EU-Arab League conference in Athens.
The government said the diplomatic relations will make it easier for Malta to request the help of Somali experts in identifying the veracity of asylum seekers who claim to be Somali.
