Last year alone some 10 people were injured while jumping off the rocks, depite numerous warning signs posted around the area. Also to be tackled this year is the perennial deck chair war, waged on the beaches surrounding the Blue Lagoon.

In a Bloomberg article, an London-based law firm compared the sale of citizenships and passports to something one can buy while on a shopping trip. The article discussed citizenship schemes worldwide and says that the obligation of residence, in Malta specifically, is 'flexbile.

Parents will be encouraged to take a more active role in the their children's education in a strategy, launched yesterday, to improve the numbers of early school leavers. A program that will serve as an alternative to O'Levels is also being proposed, allowing students to learn subjects such as English, Maltese and Science in more a more practical setting.

Reports of domestic violence have doubled in the past four years, something that an NGO believes is a result of more victims finding the courage to come forward. A change in the law in 2006 and more awareness have also contributed, according to Victim Support Malta.
