Labour welcomes ‘stability’ in gas prices

Labour welcomes stability in gas prices following yesterday's announcement of 90c increase

The Labour Party today welcomed the ‘stability’ in gas prices and stressed that the average prices for gas cylinders is €1.95 cheaper when compared to the last quarter of the former PN government’s last year in power.

Yesterday, government announced that the price of a 12kg LPG cylinder will increase by 90c from €17.10 to €18 from 1 October. The prices will remain this way until the end of December.

In its statement, government ignored the price rise entirely, choosing instead to focus on the fact that gas prices in October will be 30c cheaper than they were in October 2013 and €1.60 cheaper than they were in October 2012, the final year under the previous Nationalist administration.

Echoing government’s message, Labour said “the stability is not only benefitting families which can now plan ahead while saving more money, but businesses will also benefit since there will be no fluctuations as was the norm under PN governments.”
