An elderly man lost his life and his relative sustained life-threatening injuries after an underage driver in a Toyota Tercel crashed into the bus shelter they were seated beneath. Gan Patist Azzopardi, 65, was sitting with 61-year-old Joseph Vella in the Mtarfa Road bus shelter when the 17-year-old driver crashed his car into the structure.

Opposition leader Simon Busuttil accused the government of lying to the electorate and of PM Joseph Muscat admitting to the failure to meet pre-electoral committments only because he was pressed by the media to do so.

In Parliament yesterday, Minister Konrad Mizzi claimed to have information about a contract, made under the previous government, that contained financial and administrative irregularities. Mizzi said he had passed the information to the police.

A Libyan Cabinet delegation, led by PM Abdullah al Thinni, arrived in Malta yesterday. Al Thinni said that Malta provided the best opportunity for the Libyan voice to be heard by Europe.
