Alternattive Demokratika’s candidate for the Qormi local council said that he will work towards improving the quality of air if elected.

“I will address the modernisation of ovens in local bakeries and the raising of its chimneys,” Henrik Piski said. “I will also lobby to stop unfettered construction in our town.”

He also pledged to increase the sense of community in Qormi and to cooperate with local NGOS in the organisation of cultural activities, educational and sports events.

“Publications and informational signs concerning historical places should also be set up and updated for the benefit of locals and tourists alike,” Piski added.

AD chairman Arnold Cassola promised that his party’s elected councillors will work to ensure further investment in cultural activities and public libraries.

“We will also work to protect open spaces and render them more accessible for the elderly, people with disabilities and parents with young children,” Cassola said. “Increasing road spaces for cyclists and improving facilities for pedestrians should be a top priority for our councillors in local councils.”
