The Occupational Health and Safety Authority has called on the public to share any information it has regarding an instance of unsafe work practices, exposed via a video posted to Facebook.

The video, which has since been removed from the social networking site, showed a worker sitting on a plank suspended by ropes, several storeys up, without any form of restraint or safety equipment.

The OHSA requested details from the user who initially uploaded the video but no reply was forthcoming. The police were informed but the site remains unidentified.

“OHSA expresses concern at the indifferent and irresponsible attitude shown by some people at this gross disrespect to health and safety by which a worker is being allowed to work in such a serious danger to his life without alerting the relevant authorities,” the association said in a press statement.

“This is shown through a comment posted on the same Facebook page that solicited free drinks if the video reaches 100,000 views.”

The OHSA is appealing to the general public to assist it in locating the exact address of the site in question so as to take immediate action.

OHSA can be contacted on 2124 7677 during office hours or on 9949 6786 after office hours.
