In the Press: EU asks Malta to take on 133 more refugees

Leaked figures show that Malta is being asked to take on an additional 133 refugees, as well as the 74 outlined in the EU's migration action plan, published earlier this year.

The Malta Union of Teachers has called on the government to reverse two lecturer dismissals from MCAST. The two Art and Design lecturers were let go at the end of their procation period, despite assurances from the administration that this would not happen.

Some 50,000 surgical operations took place last year, with about a third of these requiring the use of donated blood. An average of 18,000 bags of blood are donated every year, with about half of this number being used during surgery.
