Questions about the safety measures at a car show, which ended when a super-car ploughed into spectators and left several injured, went unanswered. The organizing body, the Office of the President, declined to comment pending the results of a magisterial inquiry.

Ombudsman Joe Said Pullicino expressed doubts about the impartiality of boards set up by the government to investigate injustices. The so-called Grievances Boards lacked transparency, autonomy and a uniform interpretation of the rules, he said.

Maternity leave may be extended to adoptive parents, in addition to birth parents, said civil liberties minister Helena Dalli, who also mentioned the maternity fund that employers pay into to cover employees' maternity leave.
