33 persons on protection of minors register

There are 33 individuals listed on the protection of minors register, with one of them having faced two court decisions, Justice Minister Owen Bonnici said.

He was replying to a parliamentary question raised by PN MP Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici.

The register protects children from convicted criminals and is regulated by the Protection of Minors (Registration) Act that came into force in 2012. Those listed on the register are not necessarily paedophiles, but includes individuals convicted of a crime against children.
