Over €69,500 distributed among six organisations

Over €69,500 was donated to six different organisations from Good Causes Fund

Finance minister Edward Scicluna distributed €69,588.08 worth of donations from the National Lottery Fund for Good Causes during a meeting at the Finance ministry earlier today.

The funds were donated to six different organisations, namely, Caritas Malta, Emergency Response and Rescue Corps, the Soċjetà Mużikali Santa Marija tal-Qrendi, the Rehabilitation in Society Foundation (RISE), the Ħbieb tat-Tempju Sant’Elena of Birkirkara, and the Physically Handicapped Rehabilitation Fund.

“These funds make it possible for the government to assist small groups like these, with all their modest needs,” Scicluna said.

Scicluna explained that the government couldn’t offer assistance to all associations in the annual budget, but that funds sucha s this one secured assistance to these important groups.

Highlighting the importance of good governance,  Scicluna said that no donations are given before the relevant receipts are given out.

In 2015, the Good Causes Fund totalled €948,166.
