66-year-old woman dies after fall in Comino

The woman died at Gozo General Hospital after being airlifted there by a helicopter of the Armed Forces of Malta

A 66-year-old woman from Pieta, who was airlifted to Gozo General Hospital by the Armed Forces of Malta Friday afternoon, died in hospital at around 4.30pm.

The police said the woman had been injured in a fall aboard a vessel anchored in Comino.

The AFM’s Rescue Coordination Centre launched an Alouette III Helicopter and the Melita II SAR boat to aid the woman, who was transferred to the hospital by helicopter for further medical treatment.

Duty magistrate Paul Coppini launched an inquiry and ordered that an autopsy be carried out to determine the cause of death.
