The hunting federation will not tolerate illegal hunting and trapping activity, and will take all necessary actions, including suspending and revoking members.

The FKNK will immediately suspend the membership of anyone taken to court accused of criminal hunting activity, the hunters’ federation warned this morning.

“Those who are found guilty will have their membership completely revoked, and will thus be unable to hold a valid hunting or trapping licence,” it added.

The FKNK’s statement comes after several reports in the last days of illegal hunting of protected birds.

The federation said that it will do all that it legally can to “nip these criminals once and for all.”

The FKNK added, however, that the number of incidents this year seemed to have garnered a lot of attention due to the improvement in following regulations. “We are in a postion where the number of these cases is so small that when someone reckless comes along and shirks the regulations, it makes for sensational news.”

The FKNK reiterated its appeal to its members to immediately report any illegal activity to the police, the WBRU or to the federation itself.
