AFM airlifts two pregnant migrants to hospital

The Armed Forces of Malta has helped rescue two pregnant migrants who needed medical assistance, the AFM said in media statement.

The evacuation took place yesterday afternoon, the AFM said, when the operations centre was requested to assist two pregnant migrants.

According to the statement, the Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centres in Rome dispatched an Italian Navy helicopter to evacuate the two patients off an NGO vessel.

The helicopter landed safely at the AFM Airwing Squadron and the patients were transferred to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.
