British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson will be visiting Malta today Wednesday, who will attend a reception at the British High Commission’s residence in San Pawl tat-Targa.

Johnson will meet Maltese foreign minister George Vella.

Johnson was one of the chief supporters of Brexit. A controversial figure in British politics and journalism, supporters praise him as an entertaining, humorous, and popular figure with appeal beyond traditional Conservative voters. Conversely, he has been criticised by figures on both the left and right, accused of elitism, cronyism and laziness, and using racist language.

He served as mayor of London and was touted to become UK’s new Prime Minister after David Cameron resigned when the result of the Brexit referendum became known. However, Johnson decided to withdraw from the race and Theresa May was later elected UK’s new Prime Minister. He was later appointed foreign secretary.
