41 people had been appointed into positions of trust by five ministries alone since March 2013, with 25 retaining those positions to date, data presented in Parliament on Tuesday revealed.

In a series of replies to parliamentary questions put to six ministers by Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi, only the justice minister, under Owen Bonnici, failed to provide the figures requested.

Anton Refalo, minister for Gozo, said that the ministry had appointed 13 persons to positions of trust since the last election and that – of those – seven retained their positions.

The ministry for competitivity, under Emanuel Mallia, had appointed three persons to positions of trust. All three still retained their posts.

Home affairs minister Carmelo Abela said that his ministry had appointed nine persons to positions of trust, with four having since returned to their original positions.

Eight positions of trust appointments had been made by the ministry for the economy since March 2013, with only four still remaining effective.

And of the eight persons appointed to positions of trust by the the ministry for the family, under Michael Farrugia, six still retained their positions.
