Institute of Maltese Journalists to hold Q&A session on Media and Defamation Act

Justice Minister Owen Bonnici, Education Minister Evarist Bartolo and Attorney General Peter Grech will be participating in the discussion

The Institute of Maltese Journalists (IGM) will be holding a Q&A session for members of the public on the Media and Defamation Act. The meeting will be held on the 10th of March at The Fortress Builders, St Mark’s Street, Valletta, between 6.00pm and 7.30pm.

The IGM said the meeting will seek to address any queries and issued raised over the past weeks, regarding the proposed law.

“Justice Minister Owen Bonnici, Education Minister Evarist Bartolo as well Attorney General Dr Peter Grech will be present at the meeting. They will be answering questions on any points that require clarification or on any suggested amendments by those present,” read an IGM statement.

Last week Karl Wright and other IGM representatives met with Education Minister Evarist Bartolo and Justice Minister Owen Bonnici to discuss the proposed Media and Defamation Act, presented by the government three weeks ago. During the meeting, the IGM presented its first reactions to the law, including a number of suggestions form members and non-members alike.
