A meeting between the leader of the Nationalist Party, Simon Busuttil, and MP Marlene Farrugia – now leader of the Partit Demokratiku – was held today at the PN’s headquarters to discuss the possible coalition between the two parties.

In a statement, the PN said talks were now “at an advanced stage”.

“The two leaders discussed the possibility of adopting a common policy,” the PN said.

Talks between the two sides kicked off following Busuttil’s Independence Day speech when he had called for “a national coalition against corruption”.

The PN reiterated that Malta was being led by the “most corrupt government in history”: “The two sides agreed that citizens needed a clean government led by a serious administration.”

Both the PN and the PD have agreed that their common policies would focus on a sustainable economy, social justice, environment and constitutional renewal.
