The Malta Union of Teachers president elections have been stalled after all the members of electoral board resigned, the union said in a notice to members.

The union said that the board did not disclose a reason behind the collective resignation.

In the notice, MUT said that union president Kevin Bonello is convening an urgent council meeting on Tuesday during which the council will decide whether to appoint professional auditors to take care of the election or call an extraordinary general meeting.

The MUT elections are being contested by Franklin Barbara and Marco Bonnici.

Both candidates have accused each other of hijacking the electoral process.
