Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has reiterated his call for a ‘NO’ vote, urging citizens to reject the bailout deal put forward by the creditors.

In a televised address, Tsipras said that a report published by the International Monetary Fund “vindicated” the Greek government.

“It confirmed the obvious: the Greek debt is not sustainable,” Tsipras said.

The IMF conceded that the country needed up to €60 billion of extra funds over the next three years and large-scale debt relief to create “a breathing space” and stabilise the economy.

Tsipras said the IMF report justified the Greek government’s decision not to accept the austerity measures of the loan.

Greece’s Supreme Court has rejected an appeal filed against next Sunday’s referendum, ruling that the poll can go ahead.

Two big rallies are planned for this evening in Syntagma Square in Athens.
