Local media reported that a man was shot in the shoulder area during an argument. Bystanders came to his aid, applying pressure to the wound until first responders arrived.

The Savannah incident came a day after two television journalists were shot deadby a gunman during a live broadcast in Virginia and about two months after the 17 June fatal shooting of nine parishioners at a landmark African-American church in Charleston, South Carolina.
