The quake’s epicentre is reported to have been located approximately 165 kilometres west of California

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 on the Richter scale was reported off the coast of Ferndale, California.

Officials have said that there were no immediate reports of damage and no tsunami warning has been issued.

The quake was originally reported as having a 6.9 magnitude, however this was revised to 6.5 shortly after.
