United States President Donald Trump has warned North Korea that further expansionism of the nuclear and missile programmes will be met 'with fire and fury like the world has never seen.'

The comments come after reports emerged that North Korea had successfully produced a nuclear warhead capable to fit on an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

Meanwhile Japan's Defence Ministry said “it is possible that North Korea has achieved the miniaturisation of nuclear weapons and has developed nuclear warheads.”

According to the Washington Post, the United States Defence Intelligence Agency believes that North Korea may be in possession of at least 60 nuclear weapons some of which are small enough to be fit on a long-range missile.

Last week, the United Nations voted to impose an estimated $1bn in sanctions on North Korea
