Second man arrested in over London tube bombing

A second man has been arrested in connection with the bombing of London Tube train on Friday, which injured 30 people, according to the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command.

The 21-year-old was arrested under Britain’s Terrorism Act in Hounslow, west London, on Saturday night and remains in police custody.

The arrest follows that of an 18-year-old suspect to who was arrested at the departures lounge of Dover port earlier on Saturday before raiding a property in Sunbury which was believed to be connected with the arrest.

The BBC reports that police were now searching a residential address in Surrey in connection with the 21-year-old’s arrest.

Speaking to the BBC, Home Secretary Amber Rudd said that the second arrest made it apparent that the bombing was not a “lone wolf attack”.

Islamic State claimed responsibility, as it has for other attacks in Britain this year, including two in London and one at a concert by American singer Ariana Grande in Manchester in May, however the level of coordination on the part of the militant group remains unclear.

The UK terror threat level remains 'critical', meaning an attack is expected 'imminently'.
