Unlicensed, uninsured boat trip operator fined €5,000

A man was found guilty of operating passenger boat trips to Comino in an unlicensed and uninsured vessel.

A 45 year-old Gozitan man has been fined €5000 after a court found him guilty of operating passenger boat trips to Comino in an unlicensed and uninsured vessel.

Magistrate Joe Mifsud, presiding the Court of Magistrates in Gozo had heard how Joseph Camilleri had been charged after Police inspected his vessel, the Georgeo 2, at the Blue Lagoon in August 2014. It later emerged that at the time of the inspection, the Camilleri had not paid his registration fee and that his boat was not covered by an insurance policy.

The man was also found guilty of relapsing and committing a crime whilst on bail for a previous offence.
