Man denies trafficking charges after police raid finds drugs at residence
27-year-old man arrested after police discover 150 grams of cannabis resin in his Gzira home
An 27-year-old man who was arrested after a raid by police at his home in Gzira found 150 grams of cannabis resin has denied trafficking the drug.
Maltese-born Omar Bekbak, who is unemployed, was also charged with heroin possession and relapsing.
Police inspector Gabriel Micallef told the court, presided by Magistrate Aaron Bugeja, that apart from the resin, yesterday's search of the defendant’s residence yielded other drug trafficking paraphernalia.
Bekbak's defence lawyer, Jason Azzopardi did not request bail, instead requesting the court to order the director of prisons to give the necessary treatment to address the accused's drug addiction problems.
