Man jailed for robbing Gzira property
A man has been jailed for six months and ordered to undergo psychiatric treatment after he admitted to charges of aggravated theft

A 42-year-old Gzira resident has been jailed for six months and ordered to undergo psychiatric treatment after he admitted to charges of aggravated theft this morning.
Khalid Al Bizanti, from Libya, appeared before magistrate Joe Mifsud, accused of theft aggravated by place, time and value. Inspector Mark Mercieca explained to the court that the man was suspected of having stolen a number of items from a residence in St Albert Street, Gzira. The theft had taken place at around 2:00am on 1 July this year.
Al Bizanti faced an additional charge of recidivism, having previously been convicted of an unknown offence in 2007.
The accused admitted to the charges and was handed a six month prison sentence, after the court was told that he had co-operated with the police and was assisting them in other investigations.
A treatment order was also issued after the court was told that Al Bizanti suffered from psychiatric problems. The magistrate ordered prison authorities to liaise with Mount Carmel Hospital and provide the necessary treatment.
