Update 2 | Cars parked in front of Justice Minister’s residence catch fire

The owners of both vehicles reside in Old Mint Street • Police yet to determine whether fire was accidental or arson

Investigations by the police are underway to determine whether a car that was engulfed by flames last night was an arson attack or accidental.

As a result of the strong winds last night, a second car also caught fire.

The car was parked in front of an apartments block in Old Mint Street, where Justice Minister Owen Bonnici resides.

In a statement, his ministry said that none of the cars involved in the incident belonged to the minister. Their owners of the Opel Corsa and the Subaru, reside in the same street.

The incident happened at around 12.20am and none of the surrounding buildings sustained any damages.

Investigations by the police are underway.
