Tigné Point evacuated over bomb threat by ‘foreigner’

The police are looking for a man who told security officers a bomb was about to explode, in an incident that took place yesterday

Members of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit had to carry out an investigation at the Tigné Point mall in Sliema yesterday after a man claimed a bomb was about to explode and then made a run for it.

Police are searching for a man who is claimed to have approached security personnel at the Tigné Point shopping complex in Sliema, warning them “the place would explode within 20 minutes.”

L-orizzont reported that the man – simply described as “reportedly of Pakistani nationality” – approached a security officer at the Tigné Point mall at around 1:40pm to ask him something.

“Suddenly the foreigner told the security officer that there was a bomb in the mall that would explode at 2pm. The man left the scene in a car… at the same time, somebody reported a bag that had been left unguarded. While the place was being evacuated, a man came to claim the bag.”
