Austria purchased 18 Eurofighter jets.

German and Austrian magistrates have established a Maltese link in a €70 million corruption scandal revolving around the purchase of Eurofighter jets.

Some payments were done to a Maltese bank account in a scandal which involves the purchase of 18 Eurofighter jets by Austria.

This evidence emerged in a joint inquest by German and Austrian authorities into the dealings of EADS, the company which won the tender for the sale of military planes to Austria.

The evidence of payments to a Maltese bank account was discovered this week, following a raid by German Police in a number of offices and residences in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
