Gensna producers give €10,000 to injured worker

The producers of Gensna, the musical stage production celebrating republican Malta, have donated €10,000 to a worker who was injured during the setting-up of the stage for the production.
Paul Abela, Ray Mahoney and producer David Borg presented Emmanuel Ronayne, 48, of Fgura, with the donation after having suffered serious chest and back injuries when a structure supporting the Malta Fairs Conventions Centre's tent’s lighting collapsed onto the stage. Borg had announced that a 10% cut of ticket sales would be donated to the injured worker and his family.
“The 10% cut had previously been envisaged for the Malta Community Chest Fund, but after consulting the president’s office, a decision was taken to donate the money to the worker – who after suffering injuries is no doubt in need of greater help,” Borg had said.
The Gensna producers presented the Ronayne family with the Gensna CD and DVD.
"Manuel has progressed fantastically and is recovering well. He wanted us to convey his, and his family's appreciation for all the support they have received since the unfortunate accident," Borg said on Facebook.
