Off-duty lifeguards assist three surfers in Ramla Bay
Three surfers were being dragged to sea by currents before being rescused
This afternoon, at around 2.30pm, four off-duty volunteer lifeguards of the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps assisted three foreigners while they were surfing in Ramla Bay, Gozo.
The lifeguards noticed three persons being dragged by the currents towards the easterly area of the bay, a notoriously dangerous area.
They made their way out to the surfers and dragged all three men ashore. They provided all necessary first aid soon after and one of the men required urgent assistance as he showed signs of fatigue. All the surfers were in their mid-twenties.
Lifeguarding service in Ramla Bay was terminated in the last week of September.
