Mexican minister dies in helicopter crash
Mexican interior Minister Jose Francisco Blake Mora, prime player in the battle against drug cartels, dies in helicopter crash in rural area south of Mexico City.
Jose Francisco Blake Mora, a Mexican cabinet member, died in a helicopter crash along with seven others close to Mexico’s capital.
Mexican President Felipe Calderon expressed grief at the loss of the minister who played a major part in the nation’s battle against drug cartels.
Blake More, 45, had been appointed to oversee security efforts against Mexican drug cartels resulting in thousands of lives being taken in numerous battles.
Calderon said that the investigation into the crash would be transparent and timely after officials said that the exact cause of the crash is still unknown. .
Legal Affairs and Human Rights Undersecretary Felipe Zamora and the ministry’s press office chief Jose Alfredo Garcia were also killed in the crash according to reports.
A technical secretary Diana Ayton Miriam Sanchez, Lt Maj. Rene de Leon Sapien and three members of the air force were also victims of the crash.
